Stacks is a group task management application that focuses on visual information. Users can see at a glance where the entire team’s workload stands on an individual basis. All the information is easily accessible and immediately available. The red and green stack images appear under each day of the week for individual users to see who might be overloaded and who has room to take on more tasks. Users can also assign tasks through Stacks and receive responses. The recipient receives an alert and can respond if there is a schedule conflict or other issue with the assignment. Stacks also focuses on transparency. Users can see what the entire team is doing so there is nothing hidden away that could influence project progress.Show more screenshots »
Stacks was created by Imulus, an interactive design agency. The Imulus team is based out of Boulder, Colorado. Today, the team includes founders George Morris, John Skufca and Scott Hooten, graphic designers Aida Zilic and Kat Menze, interface developers Taylor Smith and Bruce Clark, account executive Steph Hoffman, lead programmer Mario Ricci and financial administrator Corey Hooten.
Stacks is unique in its approach to task management. The application can work effectively for many businesses in many industries. What makes Stacks special is its visual style, using “stacks.” Anyone can quickly see at a glance who can take on more work and who might be on the verge of being over loaded.
Stacks is very well organized, allowing users to quickly see both individuals and dates. The green and red stack icons (which are essentially glorified lines) make it even easier to notice where each team member stands in terms of work load.
After the 60 day free trial, users can choose from one of four Stacks membership types. The first is the Small plan which costs around $20 per month and includes up to five users, 2 GBs of storage space and unlimited clients and projects. The Medium plan costs around $40 per month and includes up to 10 users and 5 GBs of storage space. The Large plan costs around $60 and allows up to 20 users and 10 GBs of storage space. The Ginormous membership costs around $80 per month and includes up to 40 users and 20 GBs of storage space.
Stacks is a great tool for visually minded people who want to find a way to monitor team tasks. Users can add others and assign tasks through Stacks. The system includes many of the same features of other organizational applications, but offers them in a unique way. Almost any business or organization can benefit from using Stacks to monitor task progress and completion.
